PANAMA CITY, FL - On Saturday, June 14, 2025, Panama City, Florida, will join the nation in celebrating the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary and Flag Day, a time to honor the sacrifices of service members and the enduring symbol of American unity. The city will host a vibrant, day-long event downtown, commemorating all military branches with displays, performances, and community engagement, showcasing pride in our nation’s heritage. This significant milestone, coinciding with the Army’s founding in 1775, will be marked by festivities streamed live on U.S. Army social media platforms, inviting everyone to join in the patriotic spirit. https://www.baycountycoastal.com/articles/1578/view/city-of-panama-city-to-host-this-we-ll-defend-celebration-honoring-250th-anniversary-of-u-s-army
However, residents and visitors should be aware of a planned “No Kings” protest on the Hathaway Bridge, connecting Panama City to Panama City Beach, on the same day. Organized by groups like Indivisible and the 50501 Movement, this nationwide demonstration is being planned in all 50 states. Over 75 protests are planned across Florida, with the Hathaway Bridge event expected to draw significant crowds. Protester presence may lead to slowed traffic and increased pedestrian activity on the bridge.
While the protest may cause temporary disruptions, Panama City’s celebration of the Army’s legacy and Flag Day will continue to unite the community in honoring our nation’s heroes.
