Phone Your Congressman - We need a Speaker of the House

Article1, Section 2 of the Constitution of the United States of America gives broad outlines for the House of Representatives to choose or “chuse” their Speaker.

On October 3rd, 2023 Matt Gaetz, (R-FL) filed a motion to remove Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), and it happened. The House then adjourned for five days. At this point, the house has been without a Speaker for more than two weeks with no candidate able to make it to the 217 votes required.

Local district Representative Neil Dunn (R-FL) committed to voting for Jim Jordan (R-OH) yesterday.

Support is growing to empower pro tempore, Patrick McHenry (R-NC) to conduct business and is also being considered as Speaker.

Biden wishes to push through a 100 Billion dollar aid package to Israel and Ukraine. The continuing budget resolution is on day 17. US debt has reached 33.6 Trillion dollars.

More importantly, the Speaker is second in line to the presidency if something should happen to our 80 year-old President.
