Bay County prepares for Tropical Storm Debby

BAY COUNTY, FL - As Tropical Storm Debby approaches, Bay County residents are urged to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety and the protection of their property. Today, the area is expected to experience tropical storm conditions, including northwest to north winds of 45 to 50 knots in the afternoon, with seas reaching 10 to 15 feet. Residents should also be prepared for numerous squalls and scattered thunderstorms throughout the afternoon.
Tonight, tropical storm conditions are expected to continue, with south winds of 30 to 35 knots becoming southwest to west late in the evening. Seas will be between 8 to 12 feet, subsiding to 6 to 8 feet late. In areas north of 27N, west to northwest winds of 50 to 65 knots are expected, with seas reaching 10 to 15 feet.
As Bay County prepares for the impact of Tropical Storm Debby, residents are encouraged to monitor local weather updates. Time bring in items from around yards or patios. For areas that are prone to flooding, most municipalities have sand bags available for pickup.
