PANAMA CITY, FL - On July 29, the League of Women Voters held a candidate forum featuring candidates for various Bay County positions. The event provided an opportunity for the public to hear from the candidates and learn about their platforms, priorities, and qualifications for office. The candidates who participated in the forum included Tommy Hamm, Ron Keel, and Daniel Raffield, who are all running for Bay County Commission, District 1. The forum also featured Sheriff Tommy Ford, who is running for re-election, and his challenger, Andy Husar. State Attorney Larry Basford and candidate Eric Garmon, who are both vying for the position of State Attorney in the 14th Judicial Circuit, were also in attendance. Finally, School Board member Jerry Register and candidate Whitney Nieves, who are running for Bay District School Board, District 1, rounded out the list of participants. During the forum, the candidates were given the opportunity to introduce themselves and discuss their backgrounds, experiences, and reasons for running for office. They also responded to questions from the audience, covering a range of topics relevant to their respective positions. These topics included public safety, economic development, education, and fiscal responsibility. As the election approaches, it is crucial for citizens to remain engaged and informed about the issues that matter most to them and to exercise their right to vote.
