High-Speed Horror Leaves Community in Darkness
YOUNGSTOWN, FL – On Monday, May 13, 2024, approximately 6:00 PM, a car accident occurred on Campflowers Road in Youngstown, causing a power outage in the community. The driver, traveling west at a high speed, lost control and crashed into a telephone pole, breaking it in half.
“My wife and I were in the house preparing to cook dinner on the electric stove top when we heard half of a peal of thunder and witnessed a green flash through the blinded front window,” reported resident Sunny Reid. “The crack of thunder stopped without a following roll, but there was a second loud cracking sound, followed by a brighter green flash, and the loss of electric power in the house. Given the green flash, our first knee-jerk thought was tornado...The scene was completely unexpected: a small compact car, dark blue, was stopped on the north side of the road with its back bumper even with, and parallel to, the white line bordering the road.”
The driver sustained minor injuries and was checked by medics. The power was restored by 2:00 AM on May 14th, but internet was not fully restored until May 17th or 18th. The local power repair team worked tirelessly to fix the damage and restore service to the community.
