Prescribed Burns for Tyndall Air Force Base

TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. – On Saturday, May 25 and Sunday, May 26, 2024,

there will be a prescribed burn on Tyndall Air Force Base. The burn on May 25, 2024,

will begin at 8 a.m. and end approximately at 6 p.m. and will consist of roughly 2500

acres, located North of the Tyndall airfield. The transport winds are predicted to be out of

the southwest which should minimize smoke in sensitive areas.

On May 26, 2024, the burn area will be East of the Tyndall airfield and consist of 2200

acres. The burn will begin at 8 a.m. and end approximately at 6 p.m. The transport winds

are predicted to be out of the southwest which should minimize smoke in sensitive areas.

The prescribed burn will be accomplished by AFCEC/Wildland Fire Module The purpose

of the prescribed burn is to mitigate wildfires and to restore/improve wildlife habitat. The

transport winds are predicted to be out of the southwest which should minimize smoke in

sensitive areas. The burn will not be conducted if the wing direction changes.
