CALLAWAY FL - Mr. David Agosta is a candidate for Callaway Commissioner, Ward 4. You may be familiar with him standing outside of Hot Dawg Queen or Walmart waving his campaign sign on Mondays and Tuesdays. He believes in term limits and says that, if elected, he will serve a maximum of two terms and introduce term limits for the City Council. Mr. Agosta has been attending Callaway City Council meetings since 2017. He can frequently be heard during the open comments time, making thoughtful comments on each issue. When asked about this recently, a citizen told me, “His heart is in the right place.”

Some issues that Mr. Agosta would like to help solve are the completion of the Cherry Street Project, which he said is delayed due to utility lines that had to be moved and AT&T needing to bury cable underground; the delay in rebuilding Beacon Point Plaza which has commitments for occupancy; and resolving the issue of some citizens wanting to park RVs in their front yards. He is passionate about wanting to reduce the red tape that is required to build a new business in Callaway and about wanting to ensure that Callaway does not go through the embarrassment that was suffered by residents in Panama City Beach and Lynn Haven after issues they have had. He attends Callaway Historical Society meetings and shared the news from a prior meeting that SRM Concrete bought the papermill!

Mr. Agosta was born in Bay County in 1973. He lived in the Bear Creek / Youngstown area and graduated from Mosley High School in 1991. He received an Associate Degree in Arts in Pre-Religion from Gulf Coast Community / State College, in 1994, and graduated from Global University of the Assemblies of God, in 2002. Mr. Agosta was an ordained minister of The Gospel of Jesus Christ from 2000 to 2013, but since clergy is the lowest-paying job around, he decided to keep working at Walmart to be able to support his family. After reading works by St. John Paul II, he further researched the Catholic Church and felt called to join St. Dominic's Catholic Church. There, he serves as the Parish Ambassador for Augustine Institute. He also uses his Bible education to be a better man, husband and father, and to help other people to make the free choice to come to Jesus Christ.

He met his wife, Elaine, while working at Walmart in Callaway, where he has worked since 2000. They bought a home in Callaway in March 2003, and have lived there ever since. Together they raised her daughter, Amanda.

Mr. Agosta registered as a Republican at age 18, thanks to Ronald Reagan, but after serving as Chaplain of the Bay County Republican Roundtable, decided to change to non-partisan, then found a better fit as a Libertarian, serving as Secretary of the Libertarian Party of Bay County, from 2017 to 2022.

Mr. Agosta believes we should come together and help each other in good times, not just in bad times, and is always ready to help the citizens of Callaway.
