Scott Moreau to Mesmerize Audiences as Johnny Cash: Late and Alone at Roberts Hall
LYNN HAVEN, FL - On Saturday, March 30, Roberts Hall will resonate with the iconic sounds of Johnny Cash, brought to life by the exceptional talent of actor Scott Moreau. Hailing from Litchfield, ME, Moreau, armed with a BFA in Music Theatre from Illinois Wesleyan University, is set to deliver a captivating performance in "Johnny Cash: Late and Alone."
Moreau's journey to the stage took an unconventional turn, initially aspiring to be a professional baseball player. However, a pivotal moment during a performance of Les Misérables in London during his freshman year of high school redirected his path towards the world of musical theatre. Throughout high school and college, he developed a passion not only for musical theatre but also for choral singing, directing, sound design, and stage combat.
Since graduating from Illinois Wesleyan University, Moreau has graced stages across the country, from his home state of Maine to international performances in Osaka, Japan. Noteworthy roles include Scott in "Ring Of Fire" (Actors’ Playhouse, Portland Stage, Florida Studio Theatre), El Gallo in "The Fantasticks" (BroadwayWorld Award for Best Actor In A Musical), and Johnny Cash on the 1st National Tour of the Tony Award-winning musical, "Million Dollar Quartet."
Moreau's portrayal of Johnny Cash extends far beyond the national tour, with over 1,200 reprised performances in regional premieres across prestigious theaters such as Ogunquit Playhouse, Papermill Playhouse, Riverside Theatre, and many others.
Beyond performing, Moreau showcased his versatility by making his professional directorial debut with "Ring of Fire" at the Round Barn Theatre in 2011. His experience includes directing "Million Dollar Quartet" at Farmers Alley Theatre in Kalamazoo, MI, and assistant directing at the Springer Opera House.
Television audiences may recognize Moreau from his debut on the series finale of HBO’s Emmy Award-winning "Boardwalk Empire" as Young Jim Neary. In 2013, he paid tribute to Johnny Cash with the release of "Home Of The Blues: A Tribute to Johnny Cash at Sun Studio," available for digital download and on CD.
Late And Alone celebrates the music and legacy of the one and only Man In Black, Johnny Cash. Scott Moreau recounts anecdotes from Cash’s nearly 50 years in the music industry, telling the tales of his many famous friends, collaborators and songwriters such as Bob Dylan, Kris Kristofferson, Waylon Jennings and of course his long time wife and partner, June Carter Cash. Scott’s rumbling bass voice brings life to Johnny’s most beloved songs from Ring Of Fire to A Boy Named Sue, Folsom Prison Blues, I Walk The Line and many more.
As Scott Moreau takes the stage as Johnny Cash, audiences can anticipate an immersive experience, capturing the essence of the legendary musician's late and reflective period. Don't miss this extraordinary performance at Roberts Hall on March 30.
