Christine Smallwood, a legal professional with a career spanning 25 years, is now stepping into the realm of public service as she announces her candidacy for Ward 3 Commissioner. With a background deeply rooted in law, Smallwood brings a wealth of experience and a desire to serve the Callaway community.

Having commenced her legal journey at the young age of 20, Smallwood's career has seen her serve as a prosecutor for four years before transitioning into private practice for 21 years. Throughout her tenure, she has primarily focused on areas such as real estate, business, probate, estate planning, and civil litigation. Her extensive experience has honed her analytical, communication, and research skills, enabling her to effectively address the everyday problems faced by her clients.

As a parent deeply invested in the education, well-being, and future of her 11-year-old child, Smallwood emphasizes the importance of equity and diversity in education. “Now that I am transitioning out of the practice of law and my spouse and I are focused more on the education, well-being and future of our 11-year-old, it is important to me to equally focus my service to the Callaway community of which I want my child to be a proud member and future adult resident.”

Smallwood's platform for the Ward 3 Commissioner position is centered around proactive governance and strategic partnerships. She pledges to focus the Commission's efforts on forming collaborations with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and governmental organizations (GOs) to ensure that the city keeps pace with the rapid growth witnessed in the Callaway/Parker/Springfield area. This growth is fueled by the reconstruction and expansion of the scope of the mission at Tyndall Air Force Base.

Furthermore, Smallwood aims to explore avenues to save taxpayer money through responsible stewardship and forward-thinking planning for the future infrastructure needs of the city.
