High Winds Damage Callaway, FL

by Karen Custer

About 8:15 am today, winds started to swirl on Gay Street in Callaway. Residents hurried into closets and bathrooms to wait out the storm. About 30 minutes later, people looked out to check for damage.

Photos are of sheet metal hanging from a power line, a damaged fence, debris that was thrown into neighboring yards, hanging from trees and laying on the street. An 8-inch tree limb went through the roof and plywood of a house.

In a spirit of cooperation, neighbors helped each other calm down then dragged debris to the street to be picked up at a later time.
