Major Victories for Northwest Florida’s Military Bases Through Passage Of National Defense Authorization Act

NORTHWEST FLORIDA – A major victory was made for Florida’s military bases and the servicemembers who call the Sunshine State home through the bipartisan passage of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The NDAA includes the authorization of nearly $600 million for Northwest Florida’s installations, improving servicemember quality of life, building upon a successful year of military recruitment efforts, and supporting the delivery of next-generation aircraft.

Senator Moody said, “Florida is proud to be the home of three combatant commands, including SOUTHCOM, CENTCOM and SOCOM, as well as 21 military installations which all play a highly important role in the United States’ military strategy. I will always fight for their interests, because a strong military is essential for a strong nation.”

The $598.8 million in funding for Northwest Florida’s military bases, includes:

1. Tyndall Air Force Base - $48.0M
Fire and Crash Rescue Station, UFR Fully Authorized

2. Eglin Air Force Base - $219.3M
$3.3M for 350th Spectrum Warfare Wing, Design Add
$50.0M towards a $91.0M project for Barracks, Incremental Authorization
$41.0M for Child Development Center with Land Acquisition
$23.0M for F-35A Squadron Operations Facility
$52.0M for F-35A Developmental Test Hangar, Bay 1
$53.0M for F-35A Developmental Test Hangar, Bay 2

3. Naval Air Station Pensacola - $164.0M
Consolidated “A” School Dormitory, UFR Fully Authorized

4. Naval Air Station Whiting Field - $101.5M
$98.5M for Advanced Helicopter Training System Hangar, Incremental Authorization
$3.0M for Child Development Center, Design Add

5. Hurlburt Field - $66.0M
361st ISR Missions Operations Facility, UFR Fully Authorized
