Soft Opening Celebration Of Newly Rebuilt MLK Jr. Recreation Center On Monday

PANAMA CITY, FL. - The City of Panama City is proud to share that the long-awaited Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Center Rebuild Project is nearing completion. This milestone represents years of planning, dedication, and community partnership, and the City is thrilled to reopen its doors to residents once again.

The community is invited to attend a Soft Opening Celebration on Monday, December 15, 2025, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM. Guests will enjoy light refreshments and hear welcome remarks from City staff, Commissioners, project partners, and Javien Elliott, Manager of the new MLK Jr. Recreation Center. Attendees will also have the opportunity to tour the newly renovated facility and get a first look at the enhanced spaces and programs that will soon serve the community.

The excitement doesn’t stop there. A Grand Opening Celebration is scheduled for January 16, 2025, and will feature a larger, more interactive community event. Full operating hours and additional details will be shared in the coming weeks.
