PANAMA CITY, FL – Since 1992, the Grief and Loss Service of Northwest Florida (formerly Widowed Persons Service) has been providing support to those who are bereaved. We offer support groups, social activities, and grief education. The services offered are all provided by volunteers who have experienced their own loss and have worked on their grief to a point where they can effectively help others. Additionally, all the services are at no cost.
After the death of a loved one, it can seem like the world, as it was known, has ended. The surviving loved one can feel lost, abandoned, angry, isolated, depressed, anxious, and a myriad of other emotions. Attending a support group allows those who are grieving the opportunity to share and to hear other’s stories, realize that their feelings and thoughts are very normal, there is a shared camaraderie, and they are in a healthy supportive environment. In addition, it helps them to not feel so isolated or alone. Social activities fill another void by providing a safe place to start socializing with others who have a shared history.
Support groups: Monday night at 5:30 pm and Tuesdays at 1:00 pm
Social activities: Thursday coffee and donuts at 10:00 am and Friday Potlucks, 2nd and 4th Fridays at 5:30 pm.
An open house is being planned for the end of January 2026, stay tuned for more details.
Location: 1144 Grace Avenue, Panama City, FL.
