LYNN HAVEN, FL – As the second phase of the Lynn Haven Mayoral Recall Petition effort nears its finish line, the Bay County Republican Party Executive Committee voted this week to formally endorse long-time Hawks Landing HOA President Dr. Dave Lowery for Lynn Haven Mayor in the upcoming special recall election.
An eighth-generation Florida Panhandle native and married father of three, Dr. Lowery is a retired U.S. Air Force lieutenant colonel and three-time unit commander who retired from Tyndall AFB in August 2018. A published cybersecurity author and full-time college professor teaching a variety of Public Administration and Homeland Security courses, he has successfully mentored 60 newly-minted doctoral-level public servants through their respective dissertation journeys over the past 7 1/2 years since retiring from military service.
Dr. Lowery holds a PhD in Human Resource Management from National University (2023), a Doctor of Public Administration from Valdosta State University (2016), as well as three Masters degrees in Public Administration (2000), Organizational Management (2007), and Native American Leadership (2020).
Additionally, he has also actively served on the Hawks Landing HOA for the past ten years, including the past 5 1/2 years as Board President, 3 1/2 years as Board Vice President, and one year as Board Secretary.
It is very exciting that Lynn Haven has such a stellar candidate who is willing to serve if the recall of Mayor Nelson is successful. Dr. Lowery is a honorable, highly educated Floridan and military veteran with a lifetime of leadership experience.
In my view, a man such as this is needed now, at a crucial time when the City of Lynn Haven still faces enormous challenges. Lynn Haven, you have a choice! Now that the voters know there is another option, it is my hope that more people will sign, and return, the recall petitions as soon as possible.
I intend to have a full interview with Dr. Lowery in the weeks ahead and I will post when I do. Stay tuned for more information!
