BCSO Officer Involved Shooting

On 10/28/25, at 6:03pm, The Bay County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call on Clement Dr. in Southport in reference to a subject threatening his family with a knife.

6:06 pm Deputies were dispatched to the scene.

6:18 pm The deputy arrived on scene.

6:19:38 pm The suspect exits the house with a machete and charges at the deputy while swinging the weapon.

6:19:41 pm Shots fired by the deputy.

Emergency aid was given by the deputy which was taken over by EMS. The suspect was transported to Bay Medical where he was pronounced dead. The deputy involved has been placed on administrative leave, per policy. FDLE arrived on scene and is conducting the investigation.
