What started as a missed opportunity turned into a lifelong career for one local financial advisor. After graduating from Florida State University in 2000 with a degree in management, the future looked bright for a young professional offered a job with Smith Barney. But when the stock market took a downturn and hiring was frozen, that opportunity slipped through the cracks.

It wasn’t until five years later, in 2005, that he finally got the call. Smith Barney, then owned by Citigroup, brought him on board. By early 2006, he was officially licensed as a financial advisor and started his career helping individuals and families plan for the future.

He worked with Citigroup Global Markets from 2006 until 2009, until the financial crisis nearly brought the company down. When the Smith Barney branch in Panama City closed, it was time for a new chapter.

From 2009 to 2013, he continued his journey at Raymond James and Associates. Then in 2013, he took the leap into independence and launched his own company, Owens Wealth Management. Working with broker-dealer Voya Financial Advisors, he built a business rooted in trust and personalized financial planning.

When Voya was acquired by Cetera Wealth Partners in 2021, he stayed on and continues to serve clients today under the Cetera name. With 19 years of experience and relationships that span 19 different states, his work has become more than just a job. It is a mission.
