Panama County Club’s Ladies Tournament Sees a Resounding Triumph

LYNN HAVEN, FL - November 4, 2023 — After a hiatus spanning 15 years, the Panama County Club proudly reopened its doors to host the much-anticipated Ladies Invitational Tournament. Drawing twenty dynamic 2-women teams from across the panhandle, the event was a jubilant celebration of skill and camaraderie.

The tournament weather was cold but warmed up to a balmy 72 as the sun broke through. The top team in every flight not only secured the coveted title but also claimed a $200 prize.

Flight 1 Champs: Donna Gross and Cheryl Cronbaugh, representing the esteemed Panama Country Club, emerged victorious in a keenly contested battle within the first flight.

Flight 2 Champions: Frankie Gowdy and Lucy Glover, also from the Panama Country Club, exhibited exceptional synergy, clinching the championship in the second flight.

Flight 3 Winners: Susan West and Vianah Seaman, displaying remarkable skill despite their non-club affiliation, triumphed in the third flight, highlighting the inclusive nature of the tournament.

Additionally, the event witnessed individual triumphs:

• Putting Contest Winner - Barb Hoagly showcased a deft touch on the green, claiming victory in the putting contest .

• 50/50 Raffle Winner - Mali Strickland struck luck's chord, claiming the prize.

The accolades didn’t stop there, as several participants displayed exceptional accuracy and power:

• Closest to the Pin Hole #3 - Gwen Creswell of Legacy Golf Club showcased pinpoint precision.

• Closest to the Pin #7 - Cindy McCue from Sandestin Golf Club exhibited remarkable accuracy on the course.

• Longest Drive Champion - Sonja Chepurnej from Bay Point Golf Course impressed everyone with a powerful stroke, claiming the title of the Longest Drive.

The resounding success of the event wouldn’t have been possible without the dedicated efforts of the Panama Country Club Ladies Golf Committee and the invaluable support of numerous club volunteers. Their hard work and commitment ensured an enjoyable experience for all participants and spectators alike.
