LYNN HAVEN, FL - In an exciting twist for the sports community in Lynn Haven, Sports & Recreation Director Justin Ward has hit a home run in his career by being named the Florida State Director of Dizzy Dean Baseball and Softball. The announcement, made on November 7, 2023, marks a significant achievement for Ward and a proud moment for the City of Lynn Haven.

Surrounded by the enthusiastic support of city staff and members of the Dizzy Dean Baseball and Softball organization, Ward graciously accepted the mantle as the first Florida State Director since 2018. His appointment promises new horizons and revitalized energy for youth baseball and softball programs in the state.

As Florida State Director, Ward will play a pivotal role in coordinating state tournaments, working collaboratively with Dizzy Dean board members from across the state to determine locations for franchised leagues bidding for tournaments.

Danny Phillips, the National Commissioner of Dizzy Dean Baseball and Softball, expressed his confidence in Ward's ability to lead Florida into a brighter future. "Justin is very genuine, and it is understood how passionate he is about what he does with the sports program in the City of Lynn Haven. I look forward to Justin being the new Florida State Director, and I am confident that he will lead the state into a much bigger and better program."

Ward expressed his gratitude for the exciting journey ahead. "I am extremely thrilled for this new role. Lynn Haven has had a rich history of playing Dizzy Dean Baseball, and I strongly believe their program caters to the development of our youth. As the new State Director of Dizzy Dean Baseball and Softball, I aim to create a program where everyone can compete, have fun, and make lasting memories.

This announcement comes on the heels of Lynn Haven's successful summer, where the city proudly declared the formation of three All-Star teams headed to the Dizzy Dean World Series in Southaven, Mississippi—the first All-Star teams since the challenging times post-Hurricane Michael in 2018.

Founded in 1977, Dizzy Dean Baseball, Inc. has evolved into a multi-state youth organization with a mission to provide a recreational outlet for young players. As a non-profit, Dizzy Dean Baseball and Softball emphasize community-based programs that are fair, equal, and inclusive for youth aged 5-19.

With Justin Ward at the helm, the City of Lynn Haven anticipates a home run in the development and promotion of youth baseball and softball, continuing the rich legacy of Dizzy Dean in the heart of Florida.
