CWO Roy Trueman, Sr. (Ret. 1969) will be celebrating his 98th birthday mid-February at his church in St. Andrews.

Roy entered the US Army in 1945 after graduating high school in Ecourse, MI. Because he was literate, not something common to all recruits at the time, after boot camp he began his service in military government de-Nazifying Germans as WWII was ending. Most of his career, however, was spent in electronics maintenance supporting officers and troops in Korea and VietNam.

He created and reorganized many electronics labs, "MacGyvering" and thinking outside of the box as needed. Supervision included budgets, procurement and as many as 140 dedicated military and civilian personnel as he matched their skills to the needs of the unit.

Highly regarded, he received many Letters of Commendation and the Oak Leaf cluster four times.

Roy, and his wife Kay of 63 years, and their 5 children followed him across the United States and to Japan and again to Germany. Roy currently resides in the East Callaway Heights in a house that he designed and built with his second wife, Sue.
Congratulations, Roy, on your 98 years of accomplishments! Love, Sue♥️
