Bay District Schools of Excellence Shine Bright in Statewide Recognition

PANAMA CITY, FL – On October 24, 2023 the Bay District School Board celebrated academic achievements and educational excellence as several public schools in the county were recognized as "Schools of Excellence" during the recent school board meeting. According to Florida state statutes, these schools have consistently demonstrated exceptional performance over the past years.

In accordance with the criteria outlined in the statutes, schools recognized as "Schools of Excellence" have maintained a high standard of educational quality. These schools have consistently ranked in the 80th percentile or higher for two of the previous three years, and they have not received a school grade lower than "B" pursuant to s. 1008.34 during any of the previous three years.

The list of distinguished "Schools of Excellence" in Florida public schools includes:

1. Patronis Elementary

2. Bay Haven Charter School

3. North Bay Haven Charter School

4. Surfside Middle School

5. Bay Haven Career Academy

6. Bay Virtual School

7. Rising Leaders Academy

8. Tyndall Academy

9. University Academy

These public schools represent the pinnacle of educational achievement in the state and have consistently demonstrated their commitment to providing students with an exceptional learning experience. Bay District Schools serve more than 26,000 students attending 42 area schools across various categories. The breakdown of these schools includes:

18 elementary schools, 6 middle schools, 5 high schools, 2 multi-grade schools, 3 special purpose schools, 1 adult/technical school, 6 charter schools and 1 virtual school.

The recognition of "Schools of Excellence" in Florida public schools is not only a celebration of academic achievement but also a testament to the hard work and dedication of students, families, teachers, administrators, and the broader community.
