Teen Sentenced To 30 Years For Role In Fatal Robbery - CORRECTION

BAY COUNTY, FL - Gage Michael Griner, 17, of Southport, was sentenced to 30 years in prison after pleading no contest to Second-Degree Felony Murder. Griner, 14 at the time of the death, was charged due to his involvement in an apparent drug rip-off style robbery of Savien Craven, another juvenile. Prosecutor Peter Overstreet presented testimony at Craven’s February trial that showed a scuffle broke out during the robbery and Griner was stabbed multiple times by Craven. Jacob Adam Revis ran and made it about 110 yards with Craven chasing him before tripping and falling in a ditch. Craven stabbed Revis to death in the ditch."
Craven, who was also involved in the robbery, was convicted of Second-Degree Murder and sentenced to 65 years in prison earlier this year. In addition to the murder charge, Griner received a 5-year sentence for possessing contraband in a correctional facility, which will be served consecutively to his 30-year sentence.
State Attorney Peter Overstreet highlighted the dangers of illegal narcotics, noting the lasting impact of the crime on five families, with one life lost. The case serves as a reminder of the risks associated with drug use and the consequences of violent criminal activity.
